For if ye forgive men their trepasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:14-15
How does one escape the spirit of bitterness? By forgiving those that have offended you. The sooner we decide to forgive those who have offended us, the sooner we can get on with our lives, doing what God has called us to do.
Bitterness begins as a seed of offense. When we are offended, a negative seed is sown in our hearts. If we choose to forgive, then we will stay connected to grace, and that seed is erased from our heart by the flow of God's grace. However, if we choose not to forgive, we are cut off from the grace of God; therefore, the seed of offense becomes a root of bitterness.
We cannot afford to get bitter. If we allow trouble to make us bitter, we are in for worse trouble. BE BLESSED!!!!!!
Note: When people feel the need to blame someone during their time of trouble, that is a spirit of bitterness. Example: Adam blamed Eve, Eve blamed the serpent.
