For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work (disorder). James 3:16
Isn't it funny how we can know what the Word of God says pertaining to a particular behavior and yet we continue on in that behavior as if the Word doesn't apply to us? James 3:16 clearly tells us where there is envy and stife, there is disorder. We have all experience strife in our lives sometime or another. But what steps are we taking to avoid strife and/or to combat strife. First, we must recognize strife for what it is-an attack from the enemy used to cause discord among the church. He knows a house divided cannot stand (See Matthew 12:25).
As Christians, we have an obligation to represent God to the best of our ability at all times. Although there are times when we fall short, we must be able to recognize it, and quickly get it right.
Being a Christian is not easy. It takes everyday committment, dedication, perserverance, and above all, love for God. We have to love God totally inorder to follow Him completely. Being a follower of Christ means living according to the Godly principles that have been outlined for us in the Bible. When we decide we are going to follow Christ, we have committed to a lifestyle of doing what He tells us to do, when He tells us to do it, how He tells us to do it.
When strife shows up in our lives (for whatever reason), we are obligated to get rid of it according to the Word of God. Never are we to do what we want to do (fleshly desires); we are to do what we are suppose to do; what is expected of us to do according to God's Will. This is sometimes easier said than done. But with a made up mind, and purpose in our hearts, we can live the life God has pre-destined for us to live.
Don't let strife or any other emotion that's not pleasing to God, keep you from enjoying the life God intended for you to have. Don't allow your fleshly desires to destroy your Godly purpose. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
