But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
What are you seeking? When reading my bible, I came across this question as part of an insert. Upon thinking about it, I must honestly say that the things I have been seeking have more to do with helping others than myself. You're probably saying, "well that's a good thing." And it is, to a certain extent. We are called to have balance in everything that we do. And although it is good to do things for others, we still need to take care of ourselves.
Inorder to be of help to anyone else, we first need to take proper care of ourselves. As one of the many women who wear many hats, it is important that I seek the Lord before I venture out to complete a task. I have learned from past experiences that branching out to do tasks without seeking God's help, has left me feeling drained, frustrated, disappointed, and sometimes angry. But when I seek the Lord for a fresh anointing daily to complete the tasks at hand, I can do them with ease.
What we seek after in life reveals so much about our character. Too many of us seek the wrong things, and, as a result, we are never satisfied and fulfilled. If we will seek God as our number one necessity in life and ask for understanding of His ways, we will be content and God will add other things to our lives. (Passage taken from The Everyday Living Bible-Joyce Meyer)
In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. 1Kings 3:5
