...And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, OUT OF THE MOUTH OF BABES AND SUCKLINGS THOU HAST PERFECTED PRAISE? Matthew 21:16
During this week, I have been keeping my grandchildren while their mother goes to work. During our ride in the morning taking her as well as my husband to work, we were listening to one of our Wow cds. My oldest granddaughter is three and is at the stage where she picks up on everything the first time she hears it. Actually, as I think about it, she has always been like that. Anyway, the song I Give Myself Away came on. Yes you guess it; before the song ended, she was singing. It is the most beautiful thing to hear a little child singing, I Give Myself Away. Every time we are in the car, she wants to hear this song...repeatedly.
Yesterday she asked what I thought was funny yet interesting. Funny because the question came out of nowhere; interesting because it was obvious that she had given some thought to what she was saying. She asked, "Grandma, why do I give myself away?" I told her that she was giving herself to Jesus so that she can work for Him. She replied with her famous question, "Why?" I told her because Jesus wants to use her to do good things for her family and friends. I don't think she fully understood what I was saying, but one thing is for sure, she is very family oriented and giving. So when I said good things for your family and friends, she said, "Oh, okay and continued singing."
Now I don't know about you, but that really touched my heart to have that conversation with my granddaughter. She loves to learn and will ask questions all day long. Just as I was pleased to hear her singing, I know that God was pleased as well. I imagine it touches His heart as well to hear her say each time we are in the car, "I want to hear my song-and begin singing. I Give Myself Away.
