How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of cloud; I will be like the most High. Isaiah 14:12-14
We have to be very careful not to let our accomplishments here on earth, make us so prideful that we lose focus of the One who made those accomplishments possible. It is possible to get on such an emotional high that comes from winning and succeeding that you begin to think that you did it. That it was your talent or skills, or strength that has allowed you to receive these victories. You have forgotten about all the praying and seeking God that you did in the beginning (you know, before the success) asking Him to help you. Let's see what happens when we get so prideful that we forget where our help comes from.
In the above scripture, we see how prideful Lucifer became while being an angel in heaven. Lucifer was an angel in was an of music. Lucifer was not just an angel, but a beautiful angel. He was the envy of the other angels. However, Lucifer's fall came when he wanted to be higher than God. He took the ability, the praise, the compliments that may have come from the other angels and thought that he could be God. But how many of you know that God is not going to allow you to take His place. As a result, Lucifer was kicked out of heaven and has given up his right to be saved.
It is very important that we don't let pride keep us from the kingdom of God. In Proverbs 6:16, it list six things that the Lord hates and seven is an abomination: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. Notice that Lucifer did all these things.
Let this be a lesson to all of us that we have to remain in our place and position that God has given us. We are not to try to think higher than our creator. God knows what is best for us; what we should or shouldn't do; where we should or shouldn't be. We need to take heed to Lucifer's fall from heaven and not to let the same thing happen to us.
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, GOD RESISTETH THE PROUD, BUT GIVETH GRACE UNTO THE HUMBLE.
