And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Genesis 3:4-5
Who or what are you allowing to keep you out of the will of God? Have you allowed other people's perception to contaminate your thought process and distract you from doing what God has called you to do? If so, is it worth it?
We all know that living in this world, a world full of their own rules and viewpoint as to how one should live, can be very frustrating and intimidating if we don't remain focus on the Word of God. They have their opinions as to what size a person should be, what a person should look like to be considered a potential friend, what clothes should be worn to be considered fashionable, what sports you play or job you have will determine if you are worthy to be considered "popular," etc., etc,. etc. The list is endless. Society always seems to want to dictate our well-being. However, we should recognize that this is an attack of the enemy.
Why would we or should we allow anyone or anything to dictate to us what we should or should not do;especially if they didn't create us. God is the only one who has the right to dictate to us and He doesn't. He instructs us to do what is best for us and essential for us inorder to have the life He has ordained for us. God always has our best interest at heart. He does not command us to do things that will not be beneficial to us as well as those around us. He loves us so much that He gave us His only Son so that we could be reconciled back into a relationship with Him that we had given up so freely ( as seen in Genesis chapter 3).
The enemy will take society's view (false perceptions) of how they feel you should be, and play it over and over to where it gets embedded into your mind, which in turn, you start to feel the same way. Once you have taken society's views and meditated on them, you eventually start to believe it, thereby acting upon them. You feel the need to purchase the latest fashion, you starve yourself to be "the perfect size," you purchase homes and cars you can't afford all in the name of "popularity" not realizing that you have gotten off track from doing what God has called you to do.
In Proverbs 4:23, it states for us to keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. It is important that we guard not only our hearts, but our eyes and ears as well. For if we guard our eyes and ears, those things which aren't good for us, won't be able to get down in our hearts.
Remember the Power Thought: Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny. Change your thoughts and you change your world!
This is very powerful. If we will remain mindful of this power thought, it will keep us from having a flawed perception. It will enable us to keep our hearts and minds on who God says we are in His Word: But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people... 1 Peter 2:9
From this day forth, guard your eyes, ears, and heart. Don't allow other people's perception of you or your false perception of yourself, keep you from being who God says you already are. Don't allow the thief to rob you of your destiny. IN JESUS' NAME, AMEN.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10
