Anointed, Yet Afflicted

...and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands. And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith. Judges 15:14-15
Isn't it amazing how we can be anointed in one area of our lives, and afflicted in another? Think about it. We can be successful in completing a task, and at the same time, afflicted  in another area of our lives.
Here we have Samson, who has just killed a thousand men who was seeking revenge on him for burning their livestock and vineyards. Samson killed these men with the jawbone of an ass. The scripture tells us that the Spirit of the Lord (the anointing) came upon him. If you read further in chapter 16, it talks about Samson being vexed by Delilah to tell her the secret of his strength. She asked him three times to tell her where his strength lies. Twice, he tells her things that are not true. On the third time, he tells her the truth (be careful who you tell your secrets to).
Samson, a man of mighty strength, anointed by God, yet afflicted by Delilah. Sounds familiar. Think about situations that have arised in your life. How God has anointed you to do one thing, and something else is bothering you, aggravating you, annoying you, etc. What do you do when you are anointed on here, and afflicted over there? What do you do when you can talk to other people's kids (and they listen), and yours are doing the opposite of everything you tell them. Or you can counsel your friends on their relationships, and yours is falling apart. What do you do? I will tell you what you do. Cry out to the Lord. Seek Him with your every being. Let Him know that it is only through Him that you exist and that it is only through Him the the impossible is made possible. Let Him know that you are trusting and depending on Him for your breakthrough.
Just as Samson called out to the Lord for help, we need to as well. God knows what we stand in need of, He is just waiting for us to realize what we are in need of and to ask Him for it. IN JESUS' NAME, AMEN.
And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O  Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
...And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. Judges 16:28,30
