Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Psalm 51:1-3
Do you know you have the power to change your circumstances? It's true. There are two things you need to do to change your circumstances: acknowledge that there is a need for change, and precede to make that change.
In the above scripture, we have David who has gone before the Lord, to ask God to forgive him of his wrongdoing. He acknowledges that he has done wrong, and knows that God is the only one who can restore him and get him back on the right path. As you read further, you will see David preceding to tell God what he needs to get his joy, and peace back so that he can praise Him. Because afterall, your deliverance is in your praise.
Just as David was, we too need to be persistent in seeking God on our behalf; to help us change our ways and our way of thinking. We need to seek Him to restore us back to doing what we know is the right thing to do, as well as, putting the past behind us.
Philippians 3:13-14 says, Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I pressed toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. And that's just what we have to do too.
Remember: Real change takes a lifetime. It is an ongoing process. Once you have mastered one area, there is another one waiting to be worked on. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
