For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
If you are a natural giver (one who gives freely and on purpose), then you know how amazing you feel after you have given. That feeling of joy that comes into your heart from making someone happy; whether it was a word of encouragement, a card, love token(money), a phone call, etc. When you do a good deed for someone, and they show appreciation, it makes you feel great!
The Bible tells us that it is more blessed to give than to receive (see Acts 20:35). Because the act of giving can be a sacrifice for some, giving also takes your mind off of yourself/circumstances. In helping someone else, God is at liberty to help us. But if we are so selfish that we won't help anyone else, then our blessings are held up. There's a blessing in blessing others!
Giving also shows that you have compassion and love for your fellow man. If everyone would obey the commandment to love your neighbor as yourself, the world would be a better place. Noone would lack anything because we all would be helping one another. It would be a constant exchange going on.
It's amazing how we expect God to meet our needs, and yet we refuse to meet the needs of those around us. It doesn't take a lot of money to do what God has commanded us to do. It just takes an open mind and a willingness to share what we already have. You would be amazed at how God blesses a natural giver.
We have to remember that just as hurting people hurt people, blessed people bless people. IN JESUS' NAME, AMEN.
...For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required. Luke 12:48
