If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O King. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Daniel 3:17-18
WOW! That's some faith!! Looking at the scripture, you have to ask yourself this question, Can I continue to trust God when my situations or circumstances are consuming me as if I were in a fiery furnace? Good question.
Here we have three Hebrew boys: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who were cast in the fiery furnance because of their refusal to serve the gods or golden image of king Nebuchadnezzar. But because of their strong faith in God, they experienced the faithfulness that God has promised His people.
Though we are not literally put into a fiery furnace, our circumstances can some time make us feel like we are in one.
But God! He promises His children that, "When thou passeth through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee" (Isaiah 43:2) .What A Mighty God We Serve!! Who else can make promises like that and deliver them?
Having faith in God is one thing (because he has given all of us a measure of faith-see Romans 12:3. But to have this type of faith that was exhibited by the three Hebrew boys, takes having a relationship with God. This type of faith is established through years of trusting and depending on God, and experiencing the victory through each situation. It comes by knowing God and taking Him at His Word that He will do just what He said.
Each trial that we go through is to make us stronger in our faith; in our walk with God. It is not done to kill us physically, but to help us grow spiritually. Because we have lived our lives operating in our flesh for so long, that there are some things that God has to rid us of inorder for Him to get us to where He needs us to be. Though we may not like it, it is a necessary process that we cannot get around.
So the next take you are going through that trial that makes you feel like you are in the fiery furnance, read the story of Shedrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Let their story encourage you to know that God will deliver on His promises. That He is a God that can not lie. That He is, and always will be, faithful to His people. IN JESUS' NAME, AMEN.
....Did not we cast three men bound into the mist of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Daniel 3:24-25
