My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge...Hosea 4:6
Coming into the knowledge of God has been very rewarding for me. Learning what He expects of me, desire for me to have, as well as the unconditional love He has for me has been mind-blowing. Never in a million years would I have thought that the love I had longed for, was in my reach. It was there, in a book that sat on every table, at every relative house I visited. And yet, I never knew it. All the times when I felt that I was all alone, or that noone cared about what I was going through, or that I had messed up so bad that redemption was unattainable, it was right there.
Isn't it amazing that everything we need to know and do is in the Word of God? Everything we will ever experience, has already been experienced by someone in the Bible. Answers to questions that noone seems to have an answer for is right there in this book.
In Hosea 4:6, God tells us that we are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Powerful and True. All the time the children of Israel spent wandering in the wilderness, murmuring and complaining, even though God was providing their every need, lets us know that we are no different. God provides for us on a daily basis, and because we get so caught up in our own greed, lust, coveteousness, we don't recognize or even appreciate that which has been done for us. But because of His unconditionally love for us, He continues to provide for us. THANK YOU JESUS!
The phrase "Knowledge Is Power" is so true. When we read the Word of God and apply it to our everyday lives, we become knowledgeable of who God says we are."But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people..." 1 Peter 2:9. Never again should we behave in a manner that is less than that nor should we accept behaviors from others that are less than that.
Once we have come into the knowledge of God (regardless of the amount you have obtained), we are held accountable. ( to him that knoweth and doeth not, to him is sin). What's the point of obtaining knowledge, if you are not going to use it? Holding on to it does what? I understand that there is a time to apply what you know and a time to hold on to it until further notice(wisdom), however, when it can help you become a better person (the person God intends for you to be), then you need to apply what you know.
Read the Word, study the Word, apply the Word to you everyday lives, and see what power you have when faced with life's challenges.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. John 1:12
