And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. And behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
Have you ever been given a word from God about something that was going to happen in your life, and you allowed doubt and unbelief to hinder your blessing, or the more the message came across, the more you spoke against it?
In Luke 1:13, Zacharias was told by the angel Gabriel, that his wife would have a son to be named John. Zacharias didn't believe the angel because of their ages (see Luke 1:18). So the angel told Zacharias that he was sent by God to give his message, but because of his unbelief, he would not be able to speak until the baby was born.
Can you imagine being unable to speak inorder to receive a blessing from the Lord? I guess the question should be, does our ability to speak need to be removed inorder for God to bless us? Do we have so much doubt and unbelief that the only way God can bless us is to make us HUSH? Something to think about!
God wants to give unto His children, just as we a natural parents want to give to our children. But our mouths hinders the blessings from coming. We can't seem to get pass the fact (their ages), and embrace the truth (God promises a son). Even though we have someone sent by God to prophesy to us (just as Zacharias), we refuse to believe. So when the blessing is so much bigger than us (just as the birth of John the Baptist was bigger than Zacharias perception of the truth), God will literally do what ever it takes to keep us from hindering the Cause.
The bible tells us in Proverbs 18:21, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Which means that whatever you are speaking, that is what you are going to have.
So the next time God gives you a message or a vision, and your words are not lining up with His, just HUSH! IN JESUS' NAME, AMEN.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. James 1:19
