For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he... Proverbs 23:7
Who do you think you are? When you read this question, please don't get offended or feel the need to defend yourself. I am only asking the question in hope that you have given this some thought.
According to the above scripture, whatever we think in our hearts, that's what we are. So who are you? This scripture lets us know that we have powerful thoughts. Our thoughts can and will dictate our actions if we meditate on them enough. Whether good or bad, we will have what we think. Sounds silly huh? Not really. Look at it this way. Inorder for our thoughts to manifest themselves, we have to meditate on them for a period of time. During this meditation process, these thoughts begin to take root in our hearts which eventually comes out through our speech and manifest themselves through our actions.
We are told in Proverbs 18:21, Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. We are constantly reminded in Proverbs ( along with other scriptures) about the words that we speak as well as what comes about according to our choice of words. Basically, we will have whatever we say.
So if we will have whatever we say, what are you saying about yourself? Are you speaking life or death over your situation? Are you speaking blessings or cursings over your life? Your children's live?
We need to make sure that our thoughts and words are lining up with who God says we are. In 1Peter 2:9 it says, "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light." This is a very powerful scripture! It has laid out for us who God says we are. We are royalty; we are holy; we are peculiar; we are chosen. You can't get any better than that. We are not like everybody else. We are of a higher standard; a higher calling. Then why are we still operating in mediocrity? Why are we living beneath our heritage? Maybe because we don't fully understand whose image we were created in; the authority we possess through Christ Jesus. But now that you have been informed of whom you are, who do you think you are?
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Genesis 1:27
