And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. Mark 9:29
Our pastor told us to fast for seven days before this month ends. He has always taught us through scripture the power that praying and fasting has. How yokes ( strongholds) are broken, how we discipline ourselves through denying our flesh, and develop a better, deeper, and stronger relationship with God. Only through this process, along with the help of The Holy Spirit, that we are able to overcome those bad habits that just won't seem to go away.
My husband and I talked about what yokes we wanted broken in our lives before we started our fast. We wanted to make sure that we were on one accord so that we could receive the blessing from fasting and praying.
As we completed our seventh day, we knew that what we were seeking God to do on our behalf , would soon come to pass. The day after we completed our fast, we were faced with a situation that we had been faced with on several occassions before, but this time it was different; it felt different; our response was different. Through fasting and praying, God had prepared us through His Word and His Presence, how to deal with the situation. But the amazing revelation was, here I was thinking that the yoke in need of being broken was for a loved one, but in actuality, it was in us. GOD IS SO AWESOME! Here I am thinking this person needs to change this and that; when it is the way we deal with the situation, that will bring about the change we wish to see. Thank you Lord for revelation!!
O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalm 34:8
