"Watch Your Mouth"

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
                                                         Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)

I was having a conversation with a young lady who was talking about her desire to get off work at her scheduled time instead of 15 to 20 minutes later when someone finally comes to relieve her of her duties.

The Goodness Of The Lord

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
                                                            Psalm 23:6

Back in early 2017, I developed a cough. In the beginning, I thought I was getting a cold. Because I am not one who likes to take medicine, my first choice of remedy was to start taking Vitamin C.

Rise Up

Let you speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
                                                                Colossians 4:6 (KJV)

I received a text message of a screen shot from someone close to me. The screen shot was of comments being made about an incident that involved the person recently.

Confession Of A God-Player

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.
                                                   Psalm 127:1 (NIV)

My definition of a God-Player:
A God-Player is one who has put themselves in the role of God; they have made themselves the author and finisher of their life; one who has put his/her ideas, philosophies, opinions, etc.

The Day God Broke My Heart

Though he slay me, yet will I trust him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
                                                             Job 13:15

Five months ago, I received a call at 2:20 in the morning that left my world as I knew it, shattered. It was a phone call from my sister telling me that my 28 yr old nephew (her son) was gone.

"Never Land"

And the manna ceased on the morning after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

It is so easy for us to become so comfortable with the familiar that we miss opportunities to receive blessings that we have prayed for, because going after them means we have to leave our comfort zone. But in order to have the promises of God, we must leave the familiar (embrace being uncomfortable), trusting and believing that God will do just what He said.

The Burden Of Success

...For unto whomever much is given, of him shall be much required...
                     Luke 12:48b

Have you ever found yourself asking God for more? More money, a promotion on your job, a bigger house, a newer model car. Only to get these things and find that they are just as much a burden as waiting to obtain them.

The above scripture says that the more we are given, the more we are expected to give. I don't know what your take on this is, but here is mine.

Mind Your Power

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he....
                                      Proverbs 23:7

There are some people who will say things to you whom you would have never expected to say them. The initial shock doesn't necessarily come from what was said, but who said it. You probably would have fainted if you weren't so consume with disbelief. Has that ever happened to you?

Though hurtful words are inevitable for us to encountered, we must remember that it is not what other people say about us or to us that matters; it is what we are saying to ourselves.

Food For Thought

Yesterday I was clever and wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.
                                                Rumi

Oh, how better the world would be if we all would spend as much time working on ourselves that we expend trying to change others. Using tactics we deem appropriate, to bully people into being who we want them to be or do what we want them to do.
